Job description
About MinIO
MinIO serves as the backbone of data and memory for enterprise AI, engineered to meet the high demands of speed, scale, and cost-effectiveness required by AI and analytics workloads. Its products, AIStor and MemKV, comprehensively integrate various layers of the data infrastructure—ranging from agentic and inference context memory to tables and objects—spanning core, edge, and cloud environments. Trusted by 77% of the Fortune 100 companies, MinIO is revolutionizing the way data is securely stored, maintained, and leveraged across AI factories, intelligent applications, and autonomous agents.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will independently take ownership of complex engineering challenges that most teams do not encounter. You will work without bureaucratic hurdles such as ticket queues, mandatory meetings, or requests for approval. Your focus will be fully on writing and improving code alongside a team of highly passionate and skilled engineers, all of whom equally embody individual contributor, architect, and leadership roles.
Required Expertise
- Profound understanding of operating system internals and a strong grasp of networking concepts from the socket layer upward.
- Well-grounded perspectives on memory management, concurrency, and software correctness, coupled with openness to revising these views as needed.
- Experience in debugging elusive bugs that others could not reproduce and motivation to deep-dive into source code driven by intellectual curiosity.
Key Competencies
- Proficiency in two or more programming languages, with honesty about their respective trade-offs.
- Analytical debugging approach based on thorough understanding rather than guessing.
- Resilience and commitment to initiate and complete challenging tasks.
- Insatiable curiosity and passion for learning that cannot be easily switched off.
- Modesty and humility paired with a commitment to high quality standards.
- Writing code that commands respect from fellow developers.
- Experience or knowledge in Operating Systems, Networking, Systems Programming, Distributed Systems, Storage Engines, Vector or Graph Retrieval, Low-Latency I/O, and Protocol Design.
Company Engineering Culture
- The organization consists entirely of individual contributors, architects, and technical leads—there are no managers.
- Engineers have full autonomy and ownership on their projects from day one without needing prior approval.
- Decisions are made collaboratively by those actively involved in the work.
- Emphasis on craftsmanship and engineering quality is paramount.
- The workflow excludes sprints, daily standups, or formal task boards like Jira.
Benefits and Perks
- Comprehensive Health Care Plan including Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage.
- 401K retirement plan with a 3% employer contribution.
- Availability of Pre-IPO stock options.
- At least twelve public holidays annually.
- Flexible paid time off policy.
Application Requirement
Applicants must provide evidence of previous work, such as a code repository, a technical write-up, or a postmortem analysis. The company prioritizes demonstrated accomplishments over resumes. Applications missing such samples will not be considered.
