About the Role
Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) is a leading managed database platform supporting millions of customers from startups to major enterprises globally. The RDS Console team crafts the customer experience for provisioning, configuring, monitoring, and managing these databases across all supported engines and AWS regions. This role leads the team responsible for delivering the next-generation console experience that simplifies onboarding for new users and provides control for managing large database fleets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a software engineering team producing customer-facing console interfaces for all RDS and Aurora engines globally.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and cross-functional teams to create intuitive and compelling user interfaces that reflect customer needs.
- Ensure operational excellence by maintaining high availability and robust performance of console services at scale.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent while continuously elevating technical standards.
- Work cross-organization with engine teams, control plane teams, and console platform teams to deliver integrated, seamless user experiences.

The RDS Console team is part of the broader RDS Platform organization within Amazon RDS, committed to delivering a simple and high-quality interface for managing databases. The team values engineering ownership, customer obsession, and technical excellence, providing engineers with autonomy and growth opportunities.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of software development practices across full lifecycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and operational support.
- Proven experience managing engineering teams and leading software development initiatives.
- Strong background in developing multi-tier web services.
- Demonstrated ability to partner product and program managers to deliver customer-focused solutions.
Preferred Skills
- Experience interfacing with users, technical teams, and senior leadership for requirements gathering, product design, and strategy formulation.
- Track record of recruiting, coaching, and mentoring engineering teams to boost skill levels and productivity.
