Software Developer - Scaled Operations AI Acceleration Team

Overview

Meta is hiring an experienced Software Developer to become part of the Scaled Operations AI Acceleration Team. This focused team rapidly designs, builds, and deploys AI-driven automation solutions to revolutionize operational procedures and enhance efficiency on a large scale. The role involves creating innovative AI-powered tools, collaborating cross-functionally, and overseeing contractor or vendor contributions to achieve significant operational improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage in full stack development to design, build, implement, and maintain AI-based automation systems aimed at optimizing essential operational workflows.
• Quickly prototype, iterate, and deploy technical solutions leveraging AI to improve full-time employee productivity.
• Work collaboratively with process owners, architects, product managers, and cross-disciplinary teams to identify impactful automation opportunities and align solutions with business goals.
• Utilize comprehensive software engineering abilities—covering backend, frontend, and data engineering—to develop scalable, robust, and sustainable systems.
• Supervise and mentor contractors and vendor personnel during technical solution development, ensuring quality and compliance with team standards.
• Ensure all developed solutions comply with Meta’s security, privacy, and regulatory frameworks.
• Clearly communicate technical information, project progress, and outcomes to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
• Stay informed on the latest AI, machine learning, and automation trends, experimenting with novel technologies to encourage innovation and continual advancement.
• Develop and contribute to playbooks, reusable templates, and best practice documentation to facilitate the scaling of automation efforts throughout Scaled Operations.
• Monitor, analyze, and report on the performance and business impact of automation initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• At least 8 years of professional experience in software engineering, support or reliability engineering, or related disciplines.
• Minimum of 6 years in specialized fields including machine learning, recommendation engines, natural language processing, data mining, AI infrastructure, or similar technical areas.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency with full web stack development, including REST APIs, Python, PHP/Hack, JavaScript/React, along with solid debugging and bug management expertise.
• Experience fine-tuning and optimizing PyTorch models, specifically with at least one large language model such as Llama, GPT, Claude, or Falcon.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders and to create comprehensive technical documentation.
• Experience leveraging data analysis (SQL) to diagnose, analyze, and solve operational challenges.
• Proven capacity to guide and support contractor and vendor teams in delivering technical projects.
• Track record of successful collaboration in multi-functional teams within demanding work environments.

• Knowledge and application of ethical AI practices, including risk assessment, bias mitigation, and quality assurance.
• Ongoing engagement in skill development related to AI, such as prompt engineering and agent orchestration, with up-to-date awareness of emerging AI trends.
• Familiarity with Meta’s internal platforms and tools, along with Scaled Operations workflows and processes.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Experience formulating playbooks, reusable frameworks, and best practices designed to enable automation at scale for less technical colleagues.
