Role Overview
The Paragon Core Engineering team at Singtel is seeking a Full Stack Developer with a strong backend development background. The role entails designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable backend services alongside contributing to frontend initiatives as needed. The focus is on working with modern cloud-native tools, distributed systems, and cross-disciplinary teams to create secure, dependable, and high-performance applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and sustain backend services using Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
- Develop and refine RESTful APIs aligned to business needs.
- Engineer secure, scalable, and maintainable software solutions in compliance with secure development guidelines.
- Architect and uphold event-driven systems using Apache Kafka.
- Collaborate effectively with frontend developers, DevOps, SREs, product managers, and other team members to ensure delivery of superior solutions.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, participate in production support, and handle incident investigations when necessary.
- Enhance application performance, scalability, reliability, and provide observability enhancements.
- Support CI/CD pipeline activities and drive automation to streamline software deployment processes.
- Ensure coding standards, security policies, testing strategies, and quality engineering practices are met consistently.
- Engage in peer code reviews and contribute to ongoing enhancement of engineering methodologies.
Required Skills and Expertise
- Advanced skills in Java development, with preference for Java 17 or Java 21 versions.
- Practical experience with Spring Boot framework.
- Competence in designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
- Understanding of application and system-level security best practices.
- Hands-on experience in building microservices architectures.
- Knowledge of Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture design.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts and container orchestration principles.
- Awareness of cloud infrastructure and platform fundamentals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with Docker and containerization technologies.
- Experience in continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Argo CD.
- Exposure to monitoring and observability platforms like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Splunk.
- Comfortable working within Linux operating systems and scripting environments.
- Some experience or exposure to frontend technologies and contemporary web development.
