Role Overview
The Software Configuration Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and governing software changes and deployments throughout the enterprise SAP landscape. The position ensures that changes are executed in a controlled, compliant, and risk-aware manner by collaborating with development, Basis, enhancement, testing, and release teams. This role is process-intensive and demands expertise with SAP Solution Manager tools and SAP Transport Management System (STMS) to maintain system integrity and facilitate timely, quality releases.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and govern software releases and transport activities across the SAP environment
- Oversee complete Change Request Management (ChaRM) processes
- Analyze and resolve transport conflicts and retrofit challenges before production deployment
- Ensure compliance with release, change, and transport management policies
- Coordinate with global and cross-functional teams (Basis, Development, Testing, Business) to confirm readiness for releases
- Track dependencies between SAP modules to mitigate associated risks
- Keep solution and release documentation accurate and current
- Support governance meetings by delivering release updates, risk evaluations, and impact reports
- Enforce adherence to processes while ensuring prompt delivery of business changes
Required Skills and Experience
- 6 to 10 years of relevant professional experience
- Thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Practical experience with SAP Solution Manager components including ChaRM, Enhanced Retrofits, Focused Build, and Solution Documentation
- Competence with SAP Transport Management System (STMS)
- Experience using IT Service Management platforms such as ServiceNow
- Knowledgeable in ITIL practices covering Service, Change, and Release Management
- Demonstrated capability to lead and influence cross-location, cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving aptitude, and sound decision-making skills
- Adept at handling multiple concurrent releases and priorities with effective organization and clear communication
- Proficient in business English communication
