Software Configuration Coordinator

About the Role

The Software Configuration Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and governance of software changes and releases throughout the enterprise SAP landscape. This role ensures that software changes are introduced in a controlled, compliant, and risk-conscious manner by collaborating closely with development, Basis, enhancement, testing, and release teams. The position demands strong adherence to established processes and expertise with SAP Solution Manager and SAP Transport Management System to maintain system integrity and facilitate timely, high-quality releases.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and manage software releases and transport movements within the SAP environment.
• Handle end-to-end Change Request Management (ChaRM) workflows.
• Analyze and resolve transport conflicts and retrofit issues before production deployment.
• Ensure release, change, and transport management processes are strictly followed.
• Collaborate with global and cross-functional teams including Basis, Development, Testing, and Business units to ensure readiness for releases.
• Monitor dependencies across SAP modules to reduce operational risks.
• Maintain current and accurate documentation related to solutions and releases.
• Provide release status updates, risk evaluations, and impact analyses to governance forums.
• Enforce compliance with processes while enabling prompt delivery of business changes.

Required Qualifications and Expertise

• 6 to 10 years of relevant work experience.
• Comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Hands-on experience with SAP Solution Manager modules such as ChaRM, Enhanced Retrofits, Focused Build, and Solution Documentation.
• Expertise with SAP Transport Management System (STMS).
• Familiarity with IT Service Management tools like ServiceNow.
• Knowledge of ITIL practices for Service, Change, and Release Management.
• Proven leadership skills to influence and guide cross-functional, multi-location teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with sound decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage multiple simultaneous releases and priorities, communicating clearly and organizing effectively.
• Proficiency in English for business communication.
