Role Overview

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the dbt Platform Services team focused on creating stable and scalable services foundational to the dbt platform cloud product. This role involves improving external APIs and redesigning core data models to support hundreds of thousands of daily dbt run executions. You will work with a collaborative team addressing high-scale challenges while improving user and administrator experiences for dbt Cloud.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain scalable, reliable services leveraging solid architectural principles and collaborate across teams.
• Partner with internal stakeholders including product teams to shape API designs.
• Create secure, highly available, and user-friendly experiences for both dbt Cloud administrators and end-users.
• Engage with Product Management, UX designers, Security, and Customer Support to deliver seamless solutions.

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong foundation in object-oriented programming.
• Experience designing and building API-driven applications using REST and/or gRPC.
• Track record of evolving APIs through multiple iterations.
• Balance fast delivery with creating scalable and reusable components.
• Commitment to code quality through design and code reviews.
• Highly self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Proactively collaborate with other teams to address infrastructure dependencies.
• Write comprehensive unit, functional, and integration tests.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and a strong sense of ownership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with authentication protocols such as SAML and OIDC and detailed authorization control.
• Interest or experience in application-level product security.
• Experience building mission-critical, reliable software for external customers.
• Knowledge of scalable architecture design patterns.
• Experience using monitoring tools like Datadog to troubleshoot production issues.
• Comfort working in distributed teams.

Python (Django), Go, React, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, Datadog.

Work Model and Location

This is a full-time position based in Dublin. We support a hybrid work setup including two days onsite weekly for team collaboration.
