About the Role
We invite a Senior Seismic Restraint Engineer with a Structural or Mechanical background to join our established multidisciplinary team focused on enhancing New Zealand’s seismic robustness. Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical management of seismic restraint projects from conceptual design to onsite execution.
- Engage with complex, critical infrastructure projects, including healthcare and educational facilities.
- Coordinate extensively with contractors, subcontractors, and tradespeople to ensure effective, buildable restraint systems.
- Utilize engineering judgement to guarantee non-structural elements behave as intended during seismic events across diverse project scales.
- Collaborate inter-disciplinarily to support integrated project goals.
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering capability development within the team.
- Cultivate and maintain professional, trusted relationships with clients and delivery partners.
- Ensure safe project delivery and contribute to the ongoing seismic resilience of New Zealand’s infrastructure.
Candidate Profile
This vacancy suits Structural or Mechanical Engineers, or individuals with equivalent hands-on experience, with a keen interest in seismic restraint design applied to building services, ceilings, partitions, and other non-structural components.
- Possess at least five years of relevant experience in consulting, construction, or site-based roles.
- Have exposure to or eagerness to develop skills in seismic restraint analysis and design, including knowledge of NZ standards such as NZS1170.5 and NZS4219.
- Bring a hands-on, outcome-oriented attitude and enjoy seeing engineering designs through successful site installation.
- Exhibit confidence in taking ownership, making sound technical decisions, and collaborating effectively within a high-performing environment.
- Demonstrate strong communication abilities to build constructive relationships across clients, contractors, and colleagues.
- Maintain curiosity and willingness to broaden understanding of building services disciplines including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
We invite applications from candidates with transferable skills or diverse professional backgrounds, including those transitioning from contractor or site-based experiences to consulting roles.
