Senior Security Platform Engineer I

About the Role

Join Zip Co as a Senior Security Platform Engineer where you'll be instrumental in building and maintaining scalable, automated security platforms that safeguard our cloud and endpoint environments. This role offers a hybrid work environment based from our Sydney office, working closely with platform and DevOps teams to embed security throughout our systems and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and manage core security platforms protecting Zip’s infrastructure and endpoints.
• Create and implement integrations between various security tools and cloud environments to enhance security posture.
• Incorporate security controls into CI/CD pipelines and engineering workflows, ensuring security is an integral part of the development lifecycle.
• Automate security guardrails using Infrastructure as Code and policy-as-code methodologies.
• Enhance and fine-tune security tools to boost their effectiveness, coverage, and accuracy.
• Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to enforce secure cloud and infrastructure configurations.
• Develop and uphold security baselines related to identity, device, and workload trust.
• Assist in progressing Zero Trust capabilities within the organization.

Candidate Profile

• Proven expertise in cloud security engineering, preferably with AWS environments.
• Experience working hands-on with contemporary security technologies such as EDR, XDR platforms, SASE solutions, identity management, or device trust frameworks.
• Proficient in building and managing Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Skilled in API integrations and automation scripting using Python or Bash.
• Strong engineering mindset focused on automating security controls.
• Experience optimizing detection workflows and tuning security tools to minimize false positives and maximize alert quality.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with platform and DevOps teams to embed security practices within engineering processes.
• Capability to translate security policies and risk management requirements into scalable technical controls.
• Adaptable mindset welcoming AI and emerging technologies to continuously learn and improve.
• Strong aptitude for risk identification and management, with leadership qualities valued whether as an individual contributor or manager.
