About the Role
We are looking for an experienced senior scientist to contribute to the creation of software tools that support the growing quantum computing industry. This role involves close collaboration with product, engineering, and design units to develop core technologies underpinning our offerings and successfully implement product features. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of quantum hardware physics, practical knowledge of quantum circuit modeling, and experience with low-level quantum hardware control. Effective communication skills and a strong drive to push technological boundaries are essential.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with team members to design and build Horizon Quantum’s products.
- Address scientific and technical challenges in support of product development, implementing solutions in code integrated with products and services.
- Develop quantum control components within Horizon's product frameworks.
- Mentor and support junior scientists, fostering their professional growth and technical skill improvement.
- Document work thoroughly and present findings internally and externally.
- Prepare reports, research publications, and technical documentation as required.
- Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to develop and safeguard novel intellectual property related to quantum hardware and software.
- Stay current with scientific and technical advances relevant to quantum computing.
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- At least two years of postdoctoral experience or comparable research and development work.
- Experience working with quantum hardware and realistic modeling of quantum circuits.
- Proficiency in pulse-level quantum programming languages.
- Familiarity with quantum computing principles and techniques.
- Programming skills in C, C++, Python, and preferably MATLAB.
- Experience in professional software development practices and processes.
- Strong analytical abilities for troubleshooting and debugging complex systems.
- A motivated self-starter passionate about learning and advancing technology.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and documentation capabilities.
