Role Overview

You will lead the transformation of version control from a foundational IDE feature into a standalone, strategic ecosystem. This includes evolving Git and code review workflows, pioneering AI-assisted code review, and coordinating aligned product strategies across multiple internal teams and external developer communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish a long-term product strategy around version control and code-change workflows across JetBrains IDEs.
• Identify deficiencies in current developer workflows and define innovative product approaches in the VCS domain.
• Explore and validate new opportunities such as cross-IDE VCS clients, host-independent code reviews, and AI-native workflows.
• Engage with the developer community and industry insights to inform product direction.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across product, engineering, design, marketing, developer advocacy, partnerships, and customer experience to align roadmap priorities.
• Balance user value with technical constraints and platform integrity alongside engineering and quality leadership.
• Represent the VCS product vision externally to customers and the wider developer tool community.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Track record of successful leadership in product direction for complex developer tooling, source code management, continuous integration/delivery, or code collaboration products.
• Ability to distill complex developer workflows into clear, actionable product roadmaps.
• Experience uniting cross-functional teams including product, engineering, marketing, and developer advocacy.
• Deep understanding of version control mechanics, code-change workflows, and the actual software shipping lifecycle.
• Based in the European Union, preferably near Munich, Prague, Amsterdam, Berlin, Belgrade, or remote within the EU, with willingness to travel to JetBrains offices.
• Familiarity with advanced VCS scenarios like complex merges, monorepos, and enterprise/self-hosted environments is advantageous.
