About the Role

WSP New Zealand is expanding its Power and Energy team significantly, inviting experienced Power Engineering Consultants to join during this dynamic growth phase. Key Expertise and Opportunities

We are seeking professionals with more than ten years of experience in power engineering. Positions include Lead / Design Managers, Protection and Control Lead Engineers, and SCADA / Substation Automation Engineers. Ideal candidates have multidisciplinary coordination skills, risk management experience, knowledge of yard layout design, SCADA architecture familiarity, relay applications, busbar and line transformer design, as well as scheme design.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality engineering solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Collaborate effectively with national, multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Engage in design development, site investigations, and overall project execution.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation and assist in construction monitoring.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide mentorship and development opportunities for junior engineers.
  • Advocate for health, safety, and wellbeing standards throughout projects.

Candidate Profile

  • Holds a relevant degree in engineering; Washington Accord accreditation preferred.
  • Brings at least 10 years of experience in power engineering design projects, ideally in consultancy environments.
  • Exhibits strong communication, problem-solving, and client-focused collaboration skills.
