About the Role
We are collaborating with an expanding technology firm to recruit a Senior Platform Engineer based in Riyadh. This role focuses on developing the shared technological framework which engineering teams utilize to build, integrate, and manage contemporary applications. It demands a practical, hands-on approach encompassing platform architecture, backend development, developer tooling, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and AI-enabled systems.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and implement shared platform services, APIs, SDKs, and robust engineering tools.
- Create orchestration functionalities for applications coordinating multiple services, tools, models, and workflows.
- Develop dependable interfaces to facilitate consistent consumption of shared features across teams.
- Incorporate AI models and related services into reusable platform components.
- Build secure, identity-conscious services enforcing authentication and authorization at necessary levels.
- Produce reusable templates, code libraries, examples, and automation to speed up application development efforts.
- Offer common functionalities for both interactive and programmatic usage.
- Define and promote standards for API design, service agreements, version management, testing, and observability.
- Implement tracing, monitoring, and operational controls within platform services.
- Collaborate closely with infrastructure and application teams to guarantee scalability, reliability, and security of services.
- Identify and resolve repetitive engineering challenges by creating reusable platform solutions.
- Enhance developer experience by minimizing obstacles and fostering self-service capabilities.
- Review codebases, document technical choices, and contribute to establishing engineering standards organization-wide.
Qualifications & Experience
- At least eight years in software development, backend, platform, or infrastructure engineering roles.
- Demonstrated history of building and maintaining internal platforms, shared services, or developer tooling in production settings.
- Hands-on expertise with AI-integrated applications, agent systems, or related technologies.
- Proficient in Python and Go programming languages; familiarity with Java or Node.js is a plus.
- Skilled in designing and developing APIs and SDKs for internal consumption.
- Experience with workflow orchestration, integration of tools, asynchronous processing, and complex multi-step service interactions.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems and service-based architecture.
- Worked with authentication and authorization protocols, including OIDC/SSO and identity-aware service implementations.
- Proficient with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes, as well as contemporary CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS or similar major cloud vendors.
- Skilled in infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform or Crossplane.
- Comprehensive awareness of trade-offs related to scalability, security, reliability, and operations.
- Strong commitment to enhancing developer usability and promoting adoption of platform capabilities.
AI & Application Platform Experience (Preferred)
- Experience in producing AI or agent-centric production systems including orchestration, tool integration, and API gateways.
- Familiarity with model gateways, provider integrations, and data retrieval mechanisms.
- Knowledge of evaluation techniques, tracing, and implementing guardrails for AI-enabled applications.
- Understanding of standardized interfaces connecting services, applications, and tools.
- Exposure to frameworks like LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Google ADK, or similar technologies.
Technical Environment
Technologies used include Python, Go, Java, Node.js, APIs, SDKs, AI and agent systems, workflow orchestration, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, AWS cloud services, Terraform/Crossplane, OIDC/SSO, advanced authentication and authorization methodologies, observability tooling, and developer-focused tools.
