Job description
Company Overview
Partnerize is dedicated to revolutionizing business growth through its leading partnership automation platform. The company enables brands to connect, engage, and convert audiences at scale via affiliate marketing, influencer partnerships, and other digital marketing strategies. A passionate team committed to client success and innovation drives the company culture.
Role Overview
The Senior Platform Engineer will play a critical role within the engineering team by overseeing deployment architecture that advances platform sophistication. Embedded with engineering teams, the role involves optimizing daily operations across the on-premises estate and acting as the principal engineering voice for designing, configuring, and implementing a new Kubernetes platform to modernize workload deployment and scaling.
This position commands hands-on engagement with full autonomy over continuous integration and delivery pipelines, automation guardrails, and migration planning, directly influencing how code is safely and rapidly delivered to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and enhance Ansible deployment automation to enable smooth feature releases, adhering to TechOps peer review standards.
- Monitor cluster-level application health, collaborate on incident responses, and lead post-mortem analyses for engineering deployments.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including deployment runbooks and guides, to facilitate onboarding and release activities for developers.
- Serve as the engineering representative in platform design discussions with TechOps, helping to establish self-service workflows and Kubernetes standards (e.g., Gateway API, RBAC, admission controllers, and resource policies) for safe and fast engineering operations.
- Define application configuration standards within namespaces, covering ingress, RBAC, namespacing, and secrets management.
- Lead incremental migration of applications to Kubernetes by containerizing workloads and transitioning non-critical environments first, progressively including business-critical systems.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Kubernetes deployments utilizing tools such as Helm, Kustomize, or ArgoCD, incorporating automated guardrails for reliable and rapid delivery.
- Implement observability solutions by establishing application metrics, logging, and alerting systems within namespaces to empower engineering teams with monitoring capabilities.
- Draft self-service documentation, deployment templates, and best practices to empower engineers to operate safely within established platform boundaries.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential for collaborative teamwork and cross-disciplinary interactions.
- Proven expertise with Ansible, including roles, inventories, vault management, and ensuring idempotent automation.
- Strong familiarity with containerization technologies, particularly Docker and Docker Compose in production scenarios.
- Solid understanding of core networking principles.
- Advanced scripting capabilities in Bash and Python.
- Hands-on experience with GitOps tools like ArgoCD or Flux.
- Knowledge of observability tools, including Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and Alertmanager or similar.
- Pragmatic and creative problem-solving ability within real-world technical constraints, with iterative delivery mindsets.
- Meticulous and security-aware approach to engineering processes.
Preferred Skills
- Experience authoring and managing Helm charts.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code solutions such as Terraform, even in on-premises contexts.
- Exposure to secrets management tools like HashiCorp Vault, Sealed Secrets, or External Secrets Operator.
- Previous experience balancing proactive greenfield development alongside business-as-usual operational tasks.
Personal Traits
- Comfortable managing urgent issues while prioritizing structured scheduling when possible.
- Capable of engaging effectively across software, network engineering, and senior management audiences, navigating diverse needs.
- Commitment to thorough documentation including runbooks and architectural diagrams.
- Balanced pragmatism with clear opinions on best practices and tool selection.
- Proactive and autonomous with a strong drive to initiate and achieve outcomes without direction.
Benefits
- Complete ownership of delivery pipelines and the shift from manual ticket handling to automated, reliable deployments.
- Central involvement in the company’s transition to cloud-native Kubernetes infrastructure, collaborating closely with TechOps.
- An engineering culture that prioritizes collaboration, continuous improvement, and modern delivery methodologies.
- 25 days of annual leave plus UK public holidays.
- Enhanced parental leave including six months full pay for birth parents and four weeks full pay for non-birth parents after one year of service.
- Additional five annual Partnerize parental days.
- Private medical and dental insurance.
- Improved pension contributions.
- Cycle to Work scheme participation.
- Eye care vouchers.
- Life assurance coverage.
- Enhanced wellness initiatives including employee assistance programs and coaching.
- Regular company social events and activities.
Diversity and Inclusion
Partnerize is committed to cultivating a diverse workforce, ensuring equitable treatment and opportunity regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, age, gender identity, physical ability, or other diversity factors. The company fosters an honest and respectful environment where every employee can thrive authentically and contribute fully.
