About the Role
Itron, a company focused on innovative solutions for energy and water management, is seeking a Senior Payroll Coordinator based in Cork, Ireland. This position is within their Global Business Services unit and reports directly to the Payroll Manager or Senior Payroll Manager. The role features a hybrid work setup and offers a comprehensive compensation package.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full payroll processing for assigned countries/entities, guaranteeing timeliness and adherence to local legal requirements.
- Review and confirm accuracy of payroll data, including employee lifecycle changes such as hires, terminations, salary adjustments, bonuses, leave, and overtime.
- Coordinate payroll schedule, deadlines, and statutory submissions.
- Provide leadership and guidance to payroll teams when necessary.
- Oversee country-specific payroll mailboxes and checklists; lead migrations of country payrolls as required.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and social security obligations.
- Support internal and external payroll audits with necessary documentation.
- Maintain payroll controls, reconciliations, and approval processes.
- Drive legislative and change requests through management review.
- Serve as the principal payroll liaison for employees, HR, Finance, and external payroll vendors.
- Address complex payroll issues efficiently, professionally, and confidentially.
- Coordinate with third-party payroll providers to uphold service standards.
- Prepare payroll reports, reconciliation, and variance analyses to ensure accurate financial records and support month/year-end processes.
- Identify and implement improvements in payroll processes, documentation, and controls.
- Contribute to payroll system enhancements, transitions, and global projects.
- Provide coaching and support to payroll team members and manage ad hoc data investigations and process reviews.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of five years of payroll experience, ideally in multinational or shared services environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in handling complex payrolls with diverse pay components.
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance, statutory regulations, and tax obligations.
- Experienced in collaborating with third-party payroll providers is highly advantageous.
- Proficient in Excel and payroll systems such as Workday, SAP, ADP, or similar platforms.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform in a fast-paced scenario with discretion and confidentiality.
- Relevant payroll or accounting certifications preferred (e.g., IPASS, CIPP), along with a degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline.
