Job description
About the Role
A prominent cybersecurity startup based in Dublin is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join their team. This key hire will be involved in advancing their extensive threat intelligence platform, which gathers millions of events including vulnerabilities, exploit patterns, and behavioral threat data. The objective is to develop machine learning capabilities that predict future cybersecurity threats, enabling customers to anticipate and prioritize risks rather than just react to past events.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production-grade machine learning systems for predictive modeling and risk ranking.
- Deploy machine learning models and oversee inference workflows in operational environments.
- Monitor model performance continuously and manage model drift by retraining and improving models as necessary.
- Handle large, diverse structured and unstructured datasets to formulate predictive insights.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, research, and leadership teams to enhance machine learning strategies and product offerings.
- Define the long-term vision and roadmap for the company’s machine learning capabilities.
Candidate Profile and Required Experience
- Proven expertise in building and running machine learning systems in production settings.
- Strong skills with Python and popular ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
- Good understanding of predictive modeling techniques, including classification and ranking models.
- Experience in model monitoring, detection of model drift, and model retraining processes.
- Familiarity with MLOps practices and deployment pipelines utilizing tools like Docker, Kubernetes, or FastAPI.
- Comfortable managing large-scale datasets, both structured and unstructured.
- Prior experience in cybersecurity is favorable but not mandatory; relevant backgrounds include fraud detection, credit risk, recommendations, pricing, forecasting, or churn prediction.
- Exposure to Generative AI, Large Language Models, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation is a plus but not the primary focus.
Additional Information and Benefits
- This is the company's inaugural dedicated machine learning engineering role, offering significant responsibility and scope from day one.
- You will join an established and experienced software engineering team.
- Opportunities to shape the future direction of machine learning within the business.
- Competitive salary package up to €130,000 based on experience.
- Equity participation and pension scheme included.
- Hybrid work model requiring approximately one day per week onsite in Dublin.
Other Terms and Conditions
The firm is committed to equal opportunity and will provide accommodations throughout the hiring process if needed. Due to high application volume, only candidates closely matching the requirements will be shortlisted, and individual feedback may not be provided.
