Job description
Role Overview
We are looking for seasoned Microservice Developers with in-depth knowledge of Java programming, cloud-native microservices architecture, and API engineering. The role focuses on designing and supporting scalable, resilient enterprise-level applications. You will be responsible for creating highly available, event-driven services following modern DevOps practices and Agile methodologies within a cloud-native environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and sustain cloud-native microservices utilizing Java technologies.
- Build scalable and robust solutions applying event-driven and reactive programming models.
- Create and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices integrations for enterprise applications.
- Implement distributed messaging and data streaming using tools like Kafka and Redis.
- Work with financial messaging or integration protocols, including FIX protocol where applicable.
- Collaborate closely with platform engineering, DevOps, quality assurance, and business teams.
- Develop and deploy production-ready, highly available services leveraging automation and CI/CD pipelines.
- Utilize containerization and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
- Maintain and build infrastructure automation and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions.
- Ensure high performance, scalability, system monitoring, and operational reliability.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies like sprint planning, design sessions, and retrospectives.
- Adhere to engineering best practices, including version control, documentation, and secure coding standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of professional software development experience in enterprise settings.
- Expertise in Java development, preferably with Spring Boot framework.
- Proven experience in implementing microservices architecture and API-centric applications.
- Hands-on experience in developing event-driven or reactive systems.
- Practical knowledge of Apache Kafka, Redis, and familiarity with FIX Protocol is an advantage.
- Solid skills in designing and developing RESTful APIs.
- Experience with cloud-native platforms like Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker Enterprise, Cloud Foundry, or public cloud services.
- Understanding of container technologies, build tools, and infrastructure automation.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with JavaScript and modern front-end frameworks such as React or AngularJS.
- Exposure to mobile application development.
- Expertise in deployment automation and monitoring tool setups.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tooling.
Methodology & Practices
- Strong grasp of DevOps culture and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Experience working within Agile or Scrum frameworks.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
Additional Information
This position is offered on a contract basis and requires working onsite in Singapore. The role demands collaboration with diverse teams and strict adherence to delivery timelines and quality standards.
