Senior Estimator - Life Sciences

Role Summary

We are currently seeking a knowledgeable Senior Estimator to join our Life Sciences team in Ireland. This role will focus on supporting large capital investment projects in the Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, and Biotech industries. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to cost estimation intelligence for complex regional projects by preparing engineers’ estimates mainly for EPCM projects, ideally with experience in Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Data Centres, or Semiconductor sectors. Strong technical skills, commercial acumen, and commitment to reliable estimating standards are essential.

Responsibilities

• Fulfill estimating requirements for all assigned projects, reporting to the Estimating Section Head.
• Produce precise, timely estimates aligned with Jacobs’ standards and client needs.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with project teams and clients.
• Adhere to scheduled commitments regarding time and budgeting.
• Continuously enhance estimating tools, templates, processes, and data accuracy.
• Enforce standardized operation procedures for estimating tasks across projects.
• Unify estimating deliverables, including tools, templates, and filing systems to reflect corporate standards.
• Execute detailed estimate plans for projects at various phases such as feasibility and basic design.
• Conduct estimate risk evaluations and contingency planning.
• Lead presentations and reviews of estimates with internal teams and clients.
• Gather and centrally store benchmark data to facilitate lessons learned and ongoing improvements.
• Facilitate Value Engineering and Risk Workshops aimed at optimizing projects.
• Support initiatives including Capital Cost Trending, Jacobs Value Plus, and Jacobs Sustainability Plus.
• Ensure compliance with project management and client requirements in all activities.
• Drive continual improvement in estimating productivity utilizing tools like CostX, Navisworks, Excel, and other digital platforms.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• BSc or MSc degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or related fields.
• Chartered status with Engineers Ireland, SCSI, or an equivalent professional accreditation is advantageous.
• Proven extensive experience in cost engineering, quantity surveying, or estimating roles, including site experience.
• Demonstrated success in providing estimates for large scale industrial projects, preferably in Life Sciences or high-tech sectors.
• Deep understanding of EPCM project environments.
