Senior DevOps Engineer - Data Store

Position Overview

This role is fully remote but requires the candidate to be physically located in the UAE due to local customer requirements. Occasional office visits for team meetings and planning may be needed. In-person interviews will be conducted.

Role Details

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Infrastructure and Platform Services team supporting the Identity Security Cloud platform within the UAE region. Your responsibilities will encompass proactive collaboration with Engineering, Product, Services, and other departments to manage and operate global customer-facing SaaS infrastructure compliant with data sovereignty regulations.

You will focus on data store operations and DevOps activities in AWS within the UAE, closely working with software engineers and DevOps colleagues. Leadership engagement across all levels will be essential to maintain and optimize product functionality under local compliance needs.

Team Environment

The UAE DevOps unit manages implementation, maintenance, and support of SailPoint SaaS products running on AWS in the UAE region, delivering hands-on infrastructure support and ensuring service excellence.

Roadmap for Success

• Within 30 days: Familiarize with products and technology, build peer relationships, and establish your development environment. Begin contributing to planned projects.
• By 90 days: Collaborate extensively on projects, integrate fully into the team, join on-call rotations, and gain expertise in SailPoint ISC product operations.
• By 6 months: Lead projects to manage data stores in restricted environments, become a subject-matter expert on product data stores, independently handle on-call incidents, collaborate for secure production deployments in the UAE, and uphold information security standards such as ISO, SOC, and SSAE 16.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience managing 24x7 production operations for high-availability SaaS or cloud services.
• Hands-on expertise with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes and deployment tools including ArgoCD.
• Familiarity deploying and maintaining databases and distributed data stores such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, S3, DynamoDB, and Kafka.
• Knowledge of Machine Learning and data processing tools like Apache Airflow and Flink.
• Experience with release automation platforms like Jenkins, plus system administration and debugging skills.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell, along with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
• Strong understanding of networking and system troubleshooting principles.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the capability to enforce processes and influence team members without direct authority.
• Ability to thrive in agile, startup-like environments.

Preferred Education

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred but not mandatory if equivalent experience is demonstrated.
