Senior DevOps Engineer

About the Role

This Senior DevOps Engineer position involves working on a global Point of Sale (POS) system responsible for processing millions of transactions daily through a secure and efficient cloud platform. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, technology-passionate individual eager to positively impact millions of merchants worldwide, facilitating seamless transaction processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate existing technologies within the organization and create strategies to enhance and broaden their capabilities.
• Develop, implement, and manage short-lived development environments.
• Administer multiple Microservices platforms to ensure stability and performance.
• Automate and sustain software deployment pipelines utilizing continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) methodologies.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to maintain essential hardware and software infrastructure for efficient project execution.
• Adhere to agile methodologies and collaborate via agile tools to deliver high-quality software within weekly sprint cycles.
• Design and build scalable, distributed, and fault-tolerant systems that meet complex operational requirements.
• Establish and apply software development best practices focusing on security, monitoring, and system telemetry.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proficiency with Jenkins, GitHub and related runners, Kubernetes (K8s), ArgoCD, Puppet, Python, GoLang, Java/Spring, NodeJS, Linux operating systems, Microservices architecture, Gradle, Maven, NPM, Data Streaming, Cloud providers, and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
• A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Between 8 to 10 years of proven experience in DevOps engineering roles.
• Strong foundation in object-oriented programming and alternative software design methodologies.
• Demonstrated capability in automation and transformation projects.
• Experience designing and developing cloud-native microservices.
• Hands-on expertise with cloud infrastructure services such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Thorough knowledge of various functional and non-functional testing frameworks and techniques.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating ideas clearly to team members, organizations, clients, and industry stakeholders.
• Familiarity with software engineering best practices across the full development lifecycle.

This role is based onsite in Tipperary, County Tipperary, Ireland. Candidates interested should have substantial experience and be ready to contribute to an impactful global payments platform.
