Senior Design Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer specializing in solar projects to manage comprehensive system design, technical drawings, and coordination for both rooftop and ground-mounted solar installations. The position is based in Bengaluru and involves close collaboration with sales and execution teams to create precise and regulation-compliant designs that conform to MNRE and DISCOM standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop solar layout plans, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), General Arrangement (GA) drawings, and compile Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Carry out system sizing, compute load calculations, and project energy generation estimates.
• Perform shadow analysis and assess project feasibility effectively.
• Ensure all designs adhere strictly to MNRE, DISCOM, and applicable safety regulations.
• Provide support to the sales team through design proposals and technical expertise during pre-sales phases.
• Deliver execution-ready design drawings and offer clarifications for site teams.
• Maintain and update design documentation throughout multiple project revisions.
• Coordinate with procurement and project management teams concerning material specifications.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering (B.E / B.Tech).
• Between 1 and 4 years of relevant experience in solar design or EPC projects.
• Expertise in AutoCAD is mandatory.
• Solid understanding of solar photovoltaic systems, including inverters, modules, and mounting structures.
• Able to accurately read and interpret electrical and civil engineering drawings.
• Strong communication skills and capacity for cross-functional coordination.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple design responsibilities simultaneously.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

• Practical experience with PVsyst or Helioscope software for energy yield simulations.
• Knowledge of net metering rules and specific state DISCOM requirements.
• Experience working with both rooftop and ground-mounted solar projects.
• Familiarity with structural design aspects of solar mounting systems.
