Overview
Wells Fargo is looking to hire a Senior Database Engineer to lead advanced database management projects and provide expertise in Oracle database administration within the banking domain. The role involves designing complex databases, managing capacity, integrating data effectively, and implementing robust security measures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in management activities covering the design of sophisticated logical and physical databases.
- Guide complex data modeling, mapping, integration processes, and capacity planning.
- Plan, research, design, implement, maintain, and control server-grade database systems.
- Develop and execute security strategies including adherence to Center for Internet Security benchmarks and comprehensive auditing.
- Assess and certify emerging database technologies for next-generation deployment.
- Advise management and diverse clients by addressing high-impact data and database challenges, shaping strategic directions.
- Provide technical leadership to recommend future database technology pathways.
- Create and maintain policies, procedures, standards, and industry best practices for database management.
- Collaborate with peers, colleagues, and management to troubleshoot issues and meet objectives.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 5 years experience in database engineering or equivalent experience demonstrated through various means including formal training and education.
- Strong expertise in Oracle RDBMS architecture, administration, and problem troubleshooting.
- Practical experience in backup/recovery and disaster recovery procedures.
- Knowledge and hands-on practice with clustering, replication, and database performance tuning.
- Ability to evaluate new features critically and document optimal practices.
- Familiarity with scripting languages and monitoring tools is advantageous.
- Banking domain knowledge is preferred.
- Experience with MongoDB, EnterpriseDB, and Python scripting is a plus.
- Knowledge of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) is beneficial.
Job Expectations
- This role supports banking domain databases including engineering, deployment, and on-call support for production, business continuity planning (BCP), and test environments such as UAT, SIT, and Development.
- Accountability for maintaining high availability and uptime of assigned databases.
- Willingness to work shifts and maintain a self-driven attitude contributing to process improvements.
Additional Information
Location options include Bangalore or Hyderabad in India. Candidates must be flexible regarding shift timings and demonstrate initiative and responsibility for database uptime and stability.
