Role Overview
The Senior Coastal Modeller will join the expanding Numerical Modelling group within the Maritime division based in the UK. This role involves contributing to a range of coastal and maritime infrastructure projects such as designing breakwaters, seawalls, revetments, and marine outfalls. The position also focuses on understanding coastal dynamics and assisting with environmental permitting.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and conducting numerical modelling studies on coastal and maritime projects.
- Collecting and analyzing data to enhance model development.
- Performing hydrodynamic, wave, sediment transport, water quality, and computational fluid dynamics simulations.
- Producing detailed technical reports and effectively communicating results to clients and internal teams.
- Managing project timelines and budgets to ensure successful delivery.
- Guiding and mentoring junior team members.
- Promoting continuous improvement through integration of digital tools and best practices within the team.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will possess in-depth technical knowledge and a collaborative, enthusiastic approach to teamwork.
- Proven expertise in coastal numerical modelling.
- Strong skills in data analysis and interpretation.
- A relevant degree or similar experience in coastal engineering, oceanography, hydrodynamics, environmental modelling, or a related discipline.
- Ability to convey intricate technical concepts clearly and effectively.
- A proactive attitude and commitment to teamwork.
Additional advantages include:
- Experience with model setup, calibration, and validation.
- Familiarity with coastal process dynamics, sediment transport, CFD, or water quality modelling.
- Proficient use of GIS software.
- Programming capabilities, especially in Python.
- Possession of a postgraduate qualification (MSc or PhD) in a pertinent field.
