Self Employed Meter Reader – Field Agent

Role Overview

We are seeking dependable and driven Meter Readers to conduct visits to residential and commercial addresses for the purpose of collecting electricity, gas, and water meter readings. Using a handheld device and data SIM supplied by the company, candidates will capture and submit readings accurately. This field position involves regular walking and access to meters at various indoor and outdoor locations with varying weather and heights, requiring a reasonable physical fitness level.

Primary Duties

• Perform visits to properties to collect precise meter readings
• Upload gathered data using the company-provided device
• Effectively plan daily routes and manage schedules
• Maintain professional communication with customers encountered
• Adhere to company policies, procedural guidelines, and compliance standards

Candidate Requirements

• Essential prior experience in meter reading
• Valid full UK driving licence; note that licence may not be required in dense city centre roles
• Capacity to cover a variety of postcode areas
• Clean DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check
• Good credit history, with consideration given if repayment plans are documented
• Strong organizational, time management, and route planning skills
• Excellent professional communication abilities
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently
• Physically fit to undertake the demands of the role

Working Schedule and Flexibility

• Workdays Monday through Saturday
• Eight-hour shifts per day
• Minimum commitment of three working days per week
• Options for either full-time (five days) or part-time (three days) engagement

Compensation

Guaranteed daily rate of £130 complemented by performance-based bonuses.
