Role Overview
The position is a full-time scientific researcher role based on-site in Benin City. The individual will be responsible for designing and implementing research initiatives, which involve formulating hypotheses, executing experiments or fieldwork, gathering data, and applying suitable analytical techniques. Key duties include conducting literature reviews, preparing research protocols, ensuring strict compliance with ethical and institutional guidelines, and maintaining meticulous documentation of processes and outcomes.
The role requires collaboration with faculty members, research teams, and students, contributing to grant proposal development, and supporting joint research projects. Additional responsibilities include preparing manuscripts, technical documentation, and scholarly presentations for conferences, as well as mentoring students and assisting with research-related teaching activities.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven expertise in research methodologies, encompassing literature review, study design, data collection, and both statistical and qualitative analysis.
- Strong scientific communication skills, capable of drafting clear and precise manuscripts, reports, and grant applications.
- Effective collaborator within multidisciplinary groups, able to communicate research findings to varied audiences including faculty, students, and external partners.
- Excellent organizational and project management capabilities, emphasizing time management, thorough documentation, and adherence to research ethical standards.
- Educational background comprising a master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent experience in scientific or related disciplines.
- Knowledgeable in laboratory and field safety protocols, and proficient with common research instruments, software, and equipment.
- Critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and a dedication to ongoing scholarly growth and excellence.
