About the Role
Central Highlands Regional Council invites applications for the position of Rural Ranger based in Emerald, Queensland. This permanent full-time role within the Communities Directorate offers a rewarding career working outdoors to protect regional land, wildlife, and biosecurity. The salary range is Stream A, Level 3-4, between $101,509.53 and $116,379.16 annually, inclusive of superannuation and locality allowance.
Key Duties
- Delivering exceptional customer service to the public and internal teams
- Conducting compliance audits and offering expert guidance
- Humanely and safely managing and handling animals and pests
- Collaborating with various teams to enhance environmental outcomes
- Keeping accurate records and responding to community inquiries
- Supervising stock routes and addressing pest-related concerns
- Supporting grant application processes for rural initiatives
- Issuing infringement notices and documenting incidents
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in pest control, livestock management, enforcement, or rural compliance
- Excellent communication skills with sound judgement
- Strong abilities in time management and teamwork
- Understanding of local government functions and relevant legislation
- Valid C class driver's license
- Working with Children (Blue Card) or readiness to obtain it before starting
