Ruby with Rails Engineer

Role Summary

The role involves aiding the setup of environments, automating deployment processes, modernizing CI/CD workflows, validating infrastructure, and managing production cutover procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure and verify development and testing environments
• Create parallel deployment environments to support releases
• Revise CI/CD pipelines to accommodate Ruby 3.3 and Rails versions 7 and 8
• Facilitate deployment activities using AWS ECS
• Develop deployment automation solutions
• Implement and support Blue-Green deployment methodologies
• Assist in monitoring systems and ensuring operational readiness
• Plan and coordinate production cutover and rollback strategies
• Contribute to hypercare phases and help stabilize production environments

Required Technical Expertise

• Experience with AWS ECS (Elastic Container Service)
• Proficiency in Docker containerization
• Hands-on knowledge of CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or equivalents
• Linux system administration skills
• Understanding of AWS networking concepts
• Ability to troubleshoot infrastructure issues effectively

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools like Terraform and CloudFormation
• Experience deploying AWS Lambda functions
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring solutions
• Past involvement with Blue-Green deployment approaches
