Role Overview

As a Reporter, you will be responsible for investigating, collecting, confirming, and delivering information for news stories, articles, interviews, and digital media content. Your primary focus will be on identifying relevant topics, crafting accurate narratives, conducting comprehensive research, and presenting information clearly across various platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Keep track of current events, industry trends, public data, social media activity, official announcements, and other pertinent sources to find engaging story ideas.
• Perform background research, fact verification, source identification, and gather necessary data to develop well-structured, informative content.
• Conduct interviews with individuals, organizations, experts, and other sources to acquire primary information and diverse viewpoints; prepare questions, schedule interviews, take notes, and document essential insights for content inclusion.
• Compose, edit, and polish news reports, articles, features, breaking news updates, online stories, and other editorial materials maintaining high editorial standards ensuring accuracy, balance, clarity, and relevance for targeted audiences and platforms.
• Research supporting materials, verify facts and sources, follow evolving stories, update published content with new information, and collaborate with editors, photographers, videographers, social media teams, and other media professionals.
• Contribute to digital content creation including headlines, summaries, social media posts, newsletters, multimedia stories, and online features.
• Monitor audience engagement and new trends to identify chances for timely and pertinent coverage.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, Communications, English, Public Relations, or related disciplines.
• Strong grasp of journalism tenets, news reporting, editorial guidelines, and responsible information collection.
• Outstanding writing, editing, proofreading, and research capabilities.
• Expertise in identifying compelling story angles and producing clear, captivating, and informative narratives.
• Excellent fact-checking and source verification skills ensuring information accuracy and dependability.
• Skilled at conducting interviews, preparing questions, and engaging professionally with sources to extract relevant details.
• In-depth understanding of news structures, headlines, leads, storytelling methods, and editorial content.
• Familiarity with digital journalism tools, online publishing platforms, social media channels, newsletters, and multimedia formats.
• Ability to source information through official records, databases, public archives, and reliable online publications.
• Strong critical thinking to differentiate verified facts from unreliable or misleading data.
• Flexible writing skills adaptable to various audiences, topics, formats, and distribution channels.
• Proficient time management to juggle multiple stories, research efforts, and editorial deadlines effectively.
• Meticulous attention to detail reviewing names, dates, figures, quotes, sources, and factual content.
• Experience with content management systems, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or comparable digital tools.
• Collaborative team player comfortable working with editors, journalists, photographers, videographers, producers, and other media personnel.
• Knowledge of media ethics, confidentiality, copyright laws, attribution, and responsible journalism practices.
