Job description

About the Role

The Department of Education and Training seeks a dedicated RATE Professional Learning Leader Coordinator to reinforce and expand the Aboriginal educator workforce in Northern Territory. This role involves managing the Remote Aboriginal Teacher Education program and facilitating access to professional development and career advancement opportunities for Aboriginal educators aiming for teaching and specialist education positions.

As a key member of the School Leadership, Culture and Care unit, the coordinator will oversee regional RATE Professional Learning Leaders and assist school-based RATE champions. The focus is on enhancing workforce skills, improving cultural responsiveness, and increasing Aboriginal representation in schools across the Northern Territory.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of the Remote Aboriginal Teacher Education (RATE) program.
  • Support Aboriginal educators in accessing professional learning opportunities.
  • Guide career progression pathways towards teaching and specialized educational roles.
  • Manage regional RATE Professional Learning Leaders to build workforce capability.
  • Collaborate with school-based RATE champions to promote cultural responsiveness and representation.

Requirements

  • Experience suitable for Senior Administrative Officer level 1 or equivalent leadership roles.

Compensation

The offered remuneration package ranges from $160,413 to $178,993, which includes a salary between $136,380 and $152,357.
