Job description
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor specializing in Electrical disciplines to support commercial and contract administration for Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) infrastructure projects in Singapore. This role involves close collaboration with project delivery teams, contracts personnel, consultants, subcontractors, and management to manage project costing, claims, documentation, and variation orders effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage budgets and cost plans focused on Electrical and M&E installation works, preparing regular cost reports.
- Conduct detailed material take-offs and measurements from Electrical Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), schematic layouts, lighting and power plans, and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) drawings to assist tendering and variations.
- Prepare and submit progress claims, variation orders, final accounts, and commercial documentation related to electrical scopes.
- Review subcontractor quotations, progress payments, variation submissions, and finalize account settlements based on site progress.
- Track ongoing project costs, identify commercial risks, and relay cost impact updates to project leadership.
- Coordinate contractual and commercial matters on-site with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Maintain thorough documentation and audit trails including claims records, correspondence, contracts, site drawings, and cost substantiation.
- Assist in project close-out activities including final account settlement and audit documentation for electrical trade packages.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Building, Construction Management, or related disciplines.
- At least 3 years of relevant Quantity Surveying experience within the Singapore construction industry, specifically focusing on Electrical M&E or MEP trade packages.
- Practical knowledge of Electrical M&E measurement techniques, interpretation of SLDs, LV/HV power distribution, lighting, earthing, and ELV systems.
- Experience managing progress claims, variation orders, tender measurements, and subcontractor administration for electrical trades.
- Ability to read and interpret site shop drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents.
- Registration with the Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (SISV) is an advantageous certification.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other cost tracking software.
- Strong numerical accuracy, excellent communication, negotiation capabilities, and contract drafting skills.
- Self-reliant working style with the ability to coordinate effectively with site engineers and project managers on-site.
- Experience with public infrastructure, transport, or large-scale utility projects in Singapore is a plus.
