Role Summary
This role entails delivering expert prosecution services, including providing legal counsel to Queensland Police Service members regarding cases before the Magistrates, Children's, and Coroners Courts. The position also involves overseeing junior staff to ensure efficient operation.
Team and Operational Context
Bundaberg Police Prosecution Corps is a compact unit comprising a Sergeant as Officer in Charge managing five personnel. The team blends sworn and civilian prosecutors, backed by administrative staff, serving the Wide Bay Burnett District and specifically the Bundaberg Patrol Group.
Responsibilities
- Conduct prosecution services within the designated jurisdiction.
- Advocate on behalf of the Service and its members during legal proceedings and court applications related to police functions in Magistrates, Children's, and Coroners Courts.
- Offer legal advice pertinent to court processes within the assigned area.
- Supervise and ensure police briefs of evidence maintain superior quality standards.
- Collaborate and negotiate with Queensland Police Service personnel, legal professionals, government bodies, and community stakeholders to foster effective working relationships and support policing objectives.
- Recognize external factors influencing the work environment and actively participate in producing legal research, arguments, submissions, opinions, and advice.
- Uphold exemplary performance and ethical conduct consistently in daily responsibilities.
Requirements
- Mandatory admission or immediate eligibility to practise law as a legal practitioner in Queensland.
Additional Information
The application validity lasts twelve months. This role belongs to the Justice & Legal occupational group.
