About Equal

Founded in 2022, Equal is creating India's AI-native identity and consumer platform which includes KYC and identity verification services for over 350 enterprises, consent-based financial data sharing, and a voice AI assistant that has rapidly achieved over one million monthly active users shortly after its launch. In 2026, Equal secured a $30 million Series B funding round led by Prosus Ventures and Tomales Bay Capital, increasing total funding to more than $42 million.

The core focus of this investment is the voice AI assistant product, whose sound, reasoning, and responses are predominantly shaped by prompt architecture rather than a traditional user interface.

The Opportunity

As part of a small team, you will contribute to pioneering a novel discipline: developing a complete AI personality that functions reliably in production environments, supports Indian languages, and operates at scale. This emerging field lacks a defined playbook, with expertise gained through extensive practical iteration; you will help define its future.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and enhance the instruction architecture that governs Equal's voice assistant's personality and behavioral traits.
• Understand the limitations of the AI model and design strategies to work effectively within those boundaries.
• Take full ownership of a persona or behavior specification within the initial months.
• Collaborate closely with a team inventing new methodologies as the discipline evolves.

Candidate Profile

• Strong natural ability with language and instruction design, demonstrated through personal projects, writing, or conceptual understanding of large language models; formal credentials are not expected as the field is new.
• Comfortable with iterative trial-and-error approaches and capable of developing personal workflows.
• A keen interest in human speech patterns beyond typed text.
• Python programming skills are considered a significant advantage but are not mandatory at this stage.
