Role Summary
The Project Planning Manager will spearhead all planning, scheduling, and progress tracking efforts for various construction projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints and in compliance with contractual and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain comprehensive project schedules utilizing Primavera P6 software.
- Set up baseline schedules that correspond with project scopes and key milestones.
- Define detailed work breakdown structures (WBS) and employ effective planning techniques.
- Regularly monitor ongoing project progress compared to approved timelines.
- Identify risks, delays, and impacts on the critical path of projects.
- Devise and implement strategies to mitigate delays and recover schedules.
- Lead the process of schedule updates, progress measurement, and forecasting.
- Supervise planning engineers and project control teams to ensure consistency.
- Standardize and promote planning best practices across all projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors on planning activities.
- Prepare detailed weekly and monthly progress reports along with management dashboards.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide insights on performance to management teams.
- Carry out delay analysis and assist with extensions of time (EOT) claims and change management procedures.
- Engage and coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal departments to synchronize project scheduling efforts.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in construction planning and scheduling.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a senior or lead planning role involving large-scale projects.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6 is essential; PMP certification is highly desirable or mandatory.
- PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) certification is also preferred or required.
- Advanced knowledge of planning, scheduling methodologies, construction practices, and sequencing techniques.
- Expertise in delay analysis, extension of time claims, and overall project controls.
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, client engagement skills, and capacity to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
