Role Overview
The Project Director will oversee a portfolio of technically challenging projects while working alongside clients, consultants, contractors, and leadership colleagues to ensure successful delivery. This position merges project leadership with client relationship management, commercial oversight, and contributions toward business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide projects through all phases, from feasibility and design through procurement to construction delivery.
- Serve as a senior client representative and trusted advisor.
- Provide strategic leadership over project programs, costs, procurement, and delivery.
- Lead and mentor Project Managers and project teams.
- Manage significant relationships with consultants, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Deliver technical and commercial oversight during project execution.
- Identify and administer project risks, schedule, and commercial results.
- Contribute to shaping the future growth and strategic direction of the organization.
Candidate Requirements
- Extensive experience working in both project management consultancy and contractor delivery roles within New Zealand.
- Demonstrated success as a Project Director or Senior Project Manager.
- Proven history handling complex and technically demanding vertical construction projects.
- Experience managing complete project lifecycles.
- Capability to manage multiple projects, clients, and senior stakeholders simultaneously.
- Strong commercial understanding of procurement, contracts, cost control, and program management.
- Proven leadership skills, including mentoring and developing project teams.
