Role Overview
As a key senior leader in Datacom's delivery leadership, the Programme Director holds sole accountability for managing one of the most complex and high-value enterprise programmes end-to-end. In this role, you will establish the strategic vision, lead delivery efforts, and guarantee scalable outcomes. This position carries complete responsibility in strategy, commercial management, and delivery without shared leadership.
You will integrate strategic vision, technical leadership, sound commercial practices, and operational excellence to harmonize multiple workstreams. Operating confidently at the executive level, you will report to senior leadership, influence decision-making, and provide clear, data-driven guidance ensuring the programme aligns with organisational goals. Your leadership will set the tone and operational rhythm, transforming ambition into execution and complexity into clarity to create long-lasting value.
Key Responsibilities
- Define programme objectives aligned to organisational goals and develop corresponding roadmaps.
- Lead programme planning, architecture, and governance to assure quality outcomes.
- Manage complex multi-platform technical environments, including project teams and executive stakeholders.
- Oversee schedules, budgets, risks, and resources, ensuring alignment with contracts and commercial commitments.
- Drive organisational change management to deliver anticipated business benefits.
- Coach and support Programme Managers across multiple delivery streams.
- Facilitate stakeholder communication, reporting, and decision-making utilizing clear metrics and documentation.
- Participate in pre-sales activities, proposal development, and continual programme strategy enhancements.
- Ensure programmes align with company strategy, risk frameworks, and delivery standards.
- Adapt to evolving customer, technological, and internal requirements by modifying roles and responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
- Over 15 years of experience in Programme Management within diverse and dynamic IT service contexts.
- More than 10 years managing complicated programmes employing both Agile and Waterfall methods.
- Proven track record leading and delivering large-scale programmes in multi-vendor environments, including managing dependencies, commercial partnerships, governance, and delivery outcomes.
- Strong skills in commercial, financial, and contractual delivery governance.
- Expertise in risk management, executive stakeholder engagement, and leadership.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of influencing at Executive and C-suite levels.
- Proficiency with project and programme management tools.
- Relevant programme management certifications such as PRINCE2, PMI, MSP, PgMP, PMP or equivalents.
- Agile methodology certifications like PSM1, CSM, or SAFe.
Desirable Skills
- Qualification as a Certified Project Director (CPD) or similar.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or related fields.
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification and qualifications in Lean and Facilitation.
