Role Overview
This role supports Resident Support Workers and Team Leaders by managing resident belongings at facilities, including packing, storing, and disposing, as well as handling laundry and light cleaning duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport supplies, gear, and mattresses within the facility.
- Maintain and submit statistics related to program duties.
- Keep communication updated with the team.
- Maintain cleanliness of the laundry room, including lint traps and garbage disposal weekly.
- Oversee laundry operations in the Centre of Hope, ensuring supply availability and reporting repairs promptly.
- Organize packing and storage of resident belongings, ensuring proper logging, tagging, and arranging for long-term storage or disposal per policy.
- Report unusual occurrences to supervisors.
- Delouse unhygienic or infested items and disinfect mattresses.
- Apply the same standards for Corrections/Parole residents’ gear in accordance with corrections regulations.
- Monthly auditing of supplies and inventory management.
- Coordinate electronic item shipments to recycling facilities.
- Conduct room inspections and follow up as required.
- Occasionally provide reception coverage at the West Desk and participate in operational planning meetings.
Administrative Duties
- Enter details into gear logs and databases accurately.
- Create name tags and assist at the West Desk as necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality and proper filing of documents.
- Attend monthly departmental meetings and review policies and procedures, suggesting improvements when applicable.
- Verify completeness and accuracy of resident forms and archive inactive files.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position, 40 hours weekly, Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
- Work is based in a men's residential housing facility located at the Centre of Hope in downtown Calgary.
- Potential interaction with aggressive individuals presenting verbal and occasional physical risks.
- Exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and sharp objects possible.
- Possible risks include back injury and monotony.
- Work schedule may vary affecting lifestyle balance.
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Completion of high school diploma or equivalent.
- Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search required.
- Standard First Aid and CPR certification mandatory.
- Up to three months prior relevant experience preferred.
Skills and Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand and walk for majority of the shift.
- Capability to lift and carry resident gear weighing between 20 to 50 pounds.
Compensation
The target salary range for this role is $19.19 to $24.00 per hour, with a maximum salary potential of $28.79 per hour. Salary placement depends on market factors, internal equity, and candidate qualifications.
