Job description
Role Overview
Join WSP as a Principal Geotechnical Engineer based in Napier, Taupō, or Gisborne, New Zealand, driving technical leadership and expanding geotechnical services across the region. This role focuses on delivering comprehensive geotechnical solutions encompassing infrastructure, land development, and hazard mitigation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex geotechnical assignments from site investigation through design and construction monitoring.
- Offer expert consultancy on roads, infrastructure, landslide and slope stability, river scour, and foundation design for residential and commercial developments.
- Manage and conduct site investigations, technical analysis, detailed reporting and design functions.
- Perform peer reviews ensuring adherence to New Zealand standards and industry best practices.
- Develop and maintain client relations to identify business growth opportunities.
- Contribute to proposal development, bid preparation, and project planning initiatives.
- Promote technical innovation, staff development and continuous improvement within the geotechnical team.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering.
- Possesses over ten years’ experience in geotechnical consultancy with strong project management expertise.
- Has extensive knowledge of New Zealand engineering standards, legislation, and site construction methodologies.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills and experience building client partnerships to secure new projects.
- Exhibits a solution-driven and collaborative approach to work.
- Possesses a clean, full New Zealand driver’s license.
