Overview
Join Royal Mail as a Postal Delivery Driver working from the Aldershot Delivery Office (GU11 1AA) on a permanent contract basis. This full-time position involves working 37 hours per week with shifts distributed over five working days in a seven-day cycle. Typical working hours range from 07:00 to 15:00 or 12:00 to 19:00, including rotating weekend shifts. The role includes a requirement to work one Sunday in every three at Goldsworth Park Delivery Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort letters and parcels accurately at the delivery office.
- Deliver mail and parcels using a Royal Mail van and by foot within the local route.
- Engage with customers to provide excellent service and build community relationships.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions throughout the day.
Role Expectations
This position is physically demanding and fast-paced, requiring walking long distances (up to 12 miles or 20,000+ steps daily), operating a delivery van, and handling high volumes of mail and parcels under time constraints. Deliveries include letters, parcels, exam results, business orders, and other important items.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a full manual UK driving licence registered to current name and address, with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Demonstrate ability and willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass related assessments.
- Maintain physical fitness to walk long distances, ascend stairs and hills, and manage lifting mailbags weighing 10kg or more.
- Be reliable, self-motivated, and organized with resilience to manage busy, pressured environments.
- Display customer-focused attitude with pride in delivering high-quality service.
- Comfortable working outdoors independently.

Additional Information
Working hours between 35 and 37 hours per week are considered full-time for candidate purposes, though contracts under 37 hours will be classified as part-time. The role entails securely delivering all route items including sensitive election materials and certain restricted products as per company standards.
