Job Overview
After contract award and Final Investment Decision (FID), the Planning & Reporting Engineer role is vital to supporting the Project Control Lead and Contract Engineer, and where necessary the Package Manager, in managing the integrated schedule and progress measurement system for the project. This role entails consolidating contractor schedules, monitoring progress against the baseline, identifying critical paths and scheduling risks, and producing precise planning forecasts.
The engineer also ensures timely, dependable project status reporting through various weekly and monthly tools such as dashboards, KPIs, look-ahead schedules, and variance analysis. Schedule data contributes to change management, risk assessments, and decision-making processes to support efficient execution during fabrication, installation, and start-up phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain processes, tools, and procedures to optimize scheduling, progress control, and reporting across all project stages.
- Define and update a Work Breakdown Structure tailored to project requirements for progress and cost tracking and reporting throughout all phases.
- Prepare and revise the overall integrated project schedules as requested by management and perform schedule analyses and simulations as needed.
- Assist project packages in reviewing and providing feedback on contractors’ scheduling and progress control procedures.
- Monitor contractors' execution timelines, verify, and approve their progress measurements and reports.
- Coordinate and supervise development of detailed monthly and weekly project reports and any additional requested reporting.
- Identify and track project risks related to potential impacts on cost and schedule.
- Provide timely updates to the Project Control Manager, highlighting progress and any challenges encountered.
- Engage with headquarters and other teams regarding planning innovations and tool implementations.
Accountabilities
- Perform duties within defined and approved planning guidelines and budgets.
- Maintain effective relationships with other departments and packages within the division.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with various other company entities including Strategy and Planning, Production, Drilling and Completion, Engineering, Projects, and Modifications divisions.
- Foster a cohesive team environment promoting collaborative working.
- Prepare accurate weekly and monthly reports, including dashboards, KPIs, S-curves, minutes of meetings, and look-ahead schedules, ensuring consistency and compliance with reporting standards.
- Maintain and update the project and contractual Issues Log, enabling traceability of issues and their impacts, and provide planning support for claims and dispute resolution.
- Conduct schedule impact analyses for changes, variations, and risks, supporting recovery actions and mitigation strategies with quantitative data.
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 to 10 years experience in a comparable planning and reporting role.
- 5 to 10 years of experience specifically in project control and contract administration.
- A relevant degree is required.
