PHE Design Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled and seasoned PHE (Plumbing, Heating & Environmental) and Fire Design Engineer to join our expanding design team. This role requires leading the design and management of PHE and fire protection systems for a variety of large-scale projects including high-rises, hospitals, commercial and industrial facilities. The candidate will ensure designs adhere to the highest quality standards, meet budget requirements, and are delivered within deadlines.

Primary Responsibilities

• Take charge of the PHE and Fire Protection/Alarm system designs in complex projects like high-rise buildings, shopping malls, data centers, and hospitals.
• Execute detailed hydraulic calculations and fire protection system design work compliant with both Indian and international codes.
• Lead design reviews for code compliance with standards such as NBC, IGBC, GRIHA, NFPA, ASPE, and IPC.
• Effectively communicate and present design concepts to clients, ensuring clear understanding and alignment with project objectives.

Team and Project Management

• Supervise PHE and Fire system project teams to ensure the consistent delivery of quality outputs within set schedules and budgetary limits.
• Mentor junior engineers to enhance their professional abilities and career growth.
• Handle daily operations of the PHE & Fire Department, including goal setting and progress tracking.
• Engage actively in client meetings to build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Identify and implement improvements in operational processes to boost team performance, client satisfaction, and innovation in designs.
• Regularly review project billing to ensure it meets financial targets.

Industry Knowledge and Innovation

• Keep abreast of emerging trends, new technologies, and best practices in PHE and Fire design.
• Promote an innovative environment encouraging the team to develop new design solutions and problem-solving techniques.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional certification related to PHE or Fire Engineering.
• At least 10 years of experience in building design engineering, with more than 5 years leading PHE and Fire system projects.
• Relevant certifications such as FSAI-AP, CFPS are advantageous.
• Expertise in hydraulic systems and fire protection/alarm design according to relevant Indian and global standards.
• Demonstrated experience managing clients and providing excellent customer service.
• Strong command of English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills capable of clarifying complex technical ideas.
