Job description

Role Overview

This position requires availability to work specific shifts: Tuesdays from 10:00 to 20:00, Fridays from 10:00 to 17:00, and Saturdays from 08:00 to 17:00. Contracted hours will be scheduled within these timeframes with three weeks' advance notice. While flexibility is valued, candidates whose availability closely matches but does not entirely align with the specified times are also encouraged to apply. Hourly pay starts at £15.70, with potential increases for locations within the M25 area and additional location-based payments. A minimum commitment of 12 to 16 hours weekly is encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough accuracy checks on dispensed prescriptions following a pharmacist’s clinical verification, or carry out the full dispensing process if accuracy checking is not feasible.
  • Identify customers needing assistance and provide information on common health conditions, symptoms, and related products.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs, explaining product benefits clearly and recommending only appropriate products.
  • Inform customers about available pharmacy services.
  • Support pharmacy services and dispensing procedures adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Check dispensed prescriptions carefully for accuracy and legal validity according to SOPs.
  • Respond competently to clinical and legal questions from healthcare professionals within competency.
  • Address customer inquiries regarding prescription medicines and report complaints to pharmacists.
  • Maintain clean, organized dispensary and consulting rooms, ensuring all administrative tasks are accurate and timely.
  • Drive promotional activities and company initiatives within the team.
  • Work toward departmental targets set by the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Implement procedures that safeguard profit and ensure compliance with legal and safety standards.
  • Assist Pharmacy Manager and Duty Pharmacy Manager in supervising and developing pharmacy team members through coaching and feedback.
  • Offer ongoing support to colleagues and management.
  • Stay updated on legal and professional pharmacy developments.
  • Maintain registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as an Accuracy Checking Technician and complete recognised training programs and annual Continuing Professional Development.

Essential Qualifications and Registration

  • Valid NVQ or equivalent qualification as a Pharmacy Technician or Accuracy Checking Technician.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician or Accuracy Checking Technician.
  • Proof of completion of a recognised Accuracy Checking Technician or Pharmacy Technician training course.
  • Evidence of completing annual Continuing Professional Development requirements.
