Overview
John Sisk & Son Ltd is a family-run international engineering and construction group creating impactful infrastructure across Ireland, the UK, and Europe. We are looking for a Payroll Specialist skilled in processing payrolls for the UK and Republic of Ireland. This role entails ensuring accurate, timely payroll delivery while maintaining compliance with legislation and addressing employee payroll queries. You will liaise with internal teams and clients, contributing to an excellent payroll service and expanding your knowledge of UK and ROI payroll laws. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines are essential. Familiarity with additional European payrolls is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle payroll processing for UK and ROI employees on a weekly and monthly basis
- Accurately input, verify, and reconcile payroll data
- Perform manual salary calculations as necessary
- Handle payroll elements including wages, overtime, bonuses, and statutory payments
- Support BACS payment file preparation and generate payroll reports
- Ensure compliance with UK and ROI tax laws, auto-enrolment, and statutory mandates
- Process pension contributions and statutory deductions
- Administer employee benefits according to company policies
- Address payroll and benefits related inquiries, escalating complex issues when needed
- Operate payroll systems to manage employee data and payroll workflows
- Keep payroll records precise and updated
- Assist with system enhancements and process improvements
- Coordinate with IT and support teams on system updates
- Support payroll audits and conduct internal checks
- Comply with GDPR and data privacy standards
- Maintain confidentiality of all payroll and personnel information
- Collaborate with Payroll, HR, and Finance teams to resolve payroll concerns
- Provide assistance during critical payroll deadlines
- Help enhance payroll processes and support junior team members
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Proven in-house payroll processing experience within UK or ROI environments
- Familiarity with end-to-end payroll cycles
- Understanding of UK and ROI payroll legislation
- Experience with Coins payroll software preferred
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and general IT proficiency
- Professional payroll qualification such as IPASS or CIPP certification
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in spoken and written English
