We deliver complex projects throughout Australia and the Asia Pacific, covering sectors such as water infrastructure, mining, energy, renewables, industrial solutions, and specialty construction. Our strong corporate team supports these ventures by ensuring efficient people management, robust systems, and effective processes.
Role Overview
Based at our Yatala head office, this hands-on Payroll Officer role works closely with the Payroll Manager and acts as the team’s second-in-command. It suits payroll professionals who are technically savvy, enjoy problem-solving, take ownership of their responsibilities, and are eager to continue learning. Our primary focus is on your attitude, capability, and growth potential rather than solely on years of experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in end-to-end payroll processing and coordinate daily team activities.
- Gather and analyze timesheets, allowances, work hours, and employment conditions.
- Verify payroll data accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and complete necessary reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with employment requirements based on the National Employment Standards.
- Collaborate proactively with employees, supervisors, and managers to address payroll queries and secure approvals.
- Maintain precise records and reports while supporting payroll process improvements and optimizing the COINS ERP system.
Candidate Profile
- Possess prior payroll experience and a comprehensive understanding of full payroll processes.
- Comfortable working with payroll systems, technology platforms, and managing large data volumes.
- Detail-oriented with strong skills in detecting inconsistencies and errors.
- Demonstrate a proactive mindset and responsibility in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Effective communication and influence skills across all organizational levels.
- Motivated to learn continuously and assume additional responsibilities.
Although experience in construction payroll, enterprise agreements, or familiarity with COINS ERP is advantageous, it is not mandatory. The essential skills are accurate interpretation of payroll information, correct application according to National Employment Standards, and a fast learning capability.
What We Offer
- Genuine pathway for growth and development in payroll career.
- Direct mentorship and support from an experienced Payroll Manager.
- Exposure to intricate payroll operations, systems, and employment condition complexities.
- Opportunities to contribute to payroll process enhancements and technological advancement.
- A role with high visibility, meaningful responsibility, and scope for professional growth.
- A collaborative team environment within an expanding Australian business.
