Overview
The Patrol Supervisor role is a pivotal frontline leadership position focused on direct management, accountability, and performance evaluation of security officers within designated areas. Operating company-provided patrol vehicles or motorcycles, the supervisor undertakes unannounced inspections to validate guard readiness, compliance with uniform standards, and operational protocols. This role often requires working rotational shifts primarily covering nights, weekends, and holidays to uphold the highest standards of security and contractual obligations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct surprise inspections of security personnel to monitor alertness, uniform compliance, and adherence to site-specific Post Orders and procedures.
- Assess guard performance, documenting and addressing breaches such as sleeping on duty or deviations from procedures with immediate corrective measures following company policies.
- Implement coaching and disciplinary actions in alignment with organizational human resource and operational guidelines.
- Ensure security officers understand and comply with site-specific Standard Operating Procedures and emergency evacuation plans.
- Manage shift transitions, daily check-ins, and muster assemblies to maintain continuous and complete security coverage across the assigned sectors.
- Resolve staffing challenges such as absences or no-shows by filling vacancies dynamically to avoid coverage gaps.
- Review and approve timesheets, daily reports, and shift logs, verifying accuracy for payroll and recordkeeping purposes.
- Conduct on-site onboarding and practical training for new security personnel.
- Respond promptly as the senior onsite authority to major incidents including alarms, breaches, medical emergencies, or structural issues.
- Supervise the preparation of detailed, legally compliant incident reports, preserving critical evidence such as witness statements and CCTV recordings.
Requirements
- A minimum of three years’ experience in the private security sector, including at least one year in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Possession of a valid and clean driver’s license appropriate to assigned vehicle type, including motorcycle endorsement if applicable.
- Valid Ghana Card identification.
- Completion of high school education or an equivalent qualification.
- Strong authoritative presence to command discipline and respect from both staff and clients.
- Proficiency in conflict resolution, capable of effective de-escalation and employee grievance management.
- Competence in writing comprehensive and accurate incident reports.
Additional Information
This position requires working rotational shifts covering nights, weekends, and holidays. The Patrol Supervisor reports directly to the Area Operations Manager or Branch Manager and is responsible for ensuring the delivery of operational excellence throughout their sector.
