Job Overview
The Packaging Assistant is responsible for supporting daily packing operations by handling finished goods manually during packing line activities and manual packing tasks. This role ensures that finished products are properly presented, labeled, boxed, and handled in strict adherence to production guidelines, quality benchmarks, hygiene protocols, and safety regulations. Based on operational demands, the Assistant may be assigned to assist with machine packing lines or manual packing tasks during shifts.
Core Duties
- Affix labels, stickers, and date codes on finished goods accurately as dictated by packing instructions.
- Place packed products into cartons, trays, or secondary packaging carefully and in an orderly manner.
- Provide manual support to machine packing lines, including managing product handling, preparing cartons, ensuring proper packing presentation, and maintaining line organization.
- Confirm that packaging components such as materials, labels, stickers, and cartons correspond with the product specifications and production guidelines.
- Inspect the visual condition of finished products and packaging materials, promptly reporting any damage, contamination, mismatches, or irregularities.
- Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and safety within the packing area at all times.
- Assist with the preparation of packing materials, replenish lines, and facilitate the movement of finished goods within the packing zone.
- Follow directions from team leaders and supervisors related to assigned packaging activities.
- Contribute to meeting production objectives by working efficiently, minimizing errors in handling, and ensuring consistent packing standards throughout the shift.
- Adhere strictly to food safety, hygiene, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), health and safety protocols, and company policies.
- Engage in shift handovers, cleaning routines, and other supportive operational tasks as required.
Candidate Qualifications and Requirements
- High school or secondary school certificate is required.
- Previous experience in food production or factory settings is preferred but not mandatory.
- Background in manual labor or operational roles is advantageous.
- Practical knowledge of industry-specific technical procedures, equipment operation, systems, and compliance with operational standards.
- Understanding of health, safety, quality assurance, and regulatory standards pertaining to the food or packaging industry.
- Familiarity with industry best practices, technical norms, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency in manual packing tasks.
- Capability to follow work instructions, SOPs, and managerial guidance accurately.
- Flexibility to adapt and support various packing functions as needed.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to ensure smooth coordination within the packing team.
- Basic awareness and commitment to quality, hygiene, food safety, and workplace safety standards.
- Prompt identification and escalation of packing or labeling concerns.
