Originating as a family-owned business with a five-generation legacy, the company operates from Vaughan, Ontario, with 13 regional locations including manufacturing facilities in Edmonton, Toronto, and Winnipeg, along with product showrooms and demo sites.
Position Summary
Based in Richmond, British Columbia, the Order Picker role involves working under the Warehouse and Distribution Manager to efficiently prepare and organize orders for distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Picking items according to order requirements.
- Efficiently organizing pick sheets to reduce unnecessary travel within the warehouse.
- Confirming selected products match the pick sheet before retrieval.
- Wrapping orders when necessary to ensure secure packaging.
- Assembling stock onto pallets in a secure and logical arrangement.
- Properly placing assembled orders into designated staging areas.
- Recording order information in the company computer system accurately.
- Providing assistance to colleagues, customers, couriers, and sample staff as needed.
- Reporting any shortages or discrepancies in orders to supervisors or the order desk promptly.
- Conducting daily safety inspections of equipment to ensure safe operation prior to order picking.
- Adhering strictly to all health and safety guidelines.
- Maintaining clear and unobstructed aisles, ensuring removal of strapping, shrink-wrap, and empty containers continuously.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Completion of secondary school diploma or its equivalent.
- One to three years of prior experience in order picking within a warehouse environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid certifications for forklift operation, order picking machinery, and electric walkie equipment.
- WHMIS and Transport of Dangerous Goods certifications.
- Experience working in warehouse logistics.
- Training and certification in fall arrest systems.
- Capability to thrive in a fast-paced work setting.
- Independent and self-motivated work style with minimal supervision.
- Dependable, punctual, and reliable work ethics.
- Basic familiarity with paper products is preferable.
- Computer literate for inputting and tracking order data.
Working Conditions
- Physically able to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working at heights when required.
- Work environment includes both indoor and outdoor areas.
- Manual dexterity for safe computer and equipment operation.
- Flexibility to occasionally work weekends, evenings, and varied shifts as necessary to cover vacations or peak periods.
