About the Role

The Monitor Technician will serve within Clinical Services at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, GA, providing essential support by obtaining, reviewing, and documenting patient heart rhythm strips under RN supervision. Responsibilities extend to processing physician orders, handling communications, and maintaining telemetry equipment. The role involves limited patient care duties such as feeding, dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting, and taking vital signs, all conducted under appropriate nursing supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Record, analyze, and document patient cardiac rhythm strips accurately under RN supervision.
  • Interpret and process physicians' orders as required.
  • Respond to phone calls and maintain telemetry units efficiently.
  • Perform limited patient care tasks under supervision, including hygiene assistance and vital sign monitoring.

Requirements

  • Preferably hold Nursing Assistant certification; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • At least one year of experience with telemetry and clerical assignments is preferred.
  • Experience in hospital or clinical environments is desirable.
  • Proficiency with computers is expected; familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.
