Job Overview
We are looking for a dedicated Meter Reader to join our field-based team in Waterbeach, Cambridge. This role involves visiting customer properties to accurately record water meter readings and ensuring data integrity for billing. The position requires independence, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Precisely collect water meter readings across the designated region.
- Complete all meter reading schedules within designated timelines to comply with the Guaranteed Standards Scheme (GSS).
- Input and update meter data accurately within company systems.
- Maintain professional interactions with customers, addressing queries and delivering exemplary service.
- Detect and report irregular consumption, leaks, or issues with meters.
- Support vulnerable customers sensitively when identified.
- Uphold the reputation of South Staffs Water and Cambridge Water through positive representation.
- Manage daily routes efficiently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and customer satisfaction.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of a valid full UK driving licence.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective customer engagement.
- Ability to work autonomously yet collaboratively within a field team.
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision in recording data.
- Adaptability and readiness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Experience in field operations is advantageous but not mandatory.

Additional Information
