About the Role
The Merchandise Processor for Central Processing plays a critical part in the Donated Goods Retail department by assisting in processing donations such as textiles, housewares, electronics, media, and shoes. This includes tasks like sorting, hanging, pricing, tagging, stocking, and rotating products to meet production and quality standards. The position reports to the Production Supervisor CP and operates within a safety-conscious, team-oriented warehouse environment.
Responsibilities
- Process textile donations by sorting, hanging, pricing, and tagging to fulfill production goals and prepare items for store shipment.
- Handle donations of housewares, electronics, media, shoes, and other miscellaneous goods following sorting, pricing, and tagging procedures to meet targets.
- Adhere strictly to all established quality and production guidelines.
- Maintain daily production tracking and report progress to the supervisor.
- Stay informed on daily, weekly, and monthly production objectives.
- Identify suitable items for the Ecommerce department.
- Provide operational support within the Central Processing department as required to fulfill production needs.
- Offer prompt, courteous, and quality customer service to all customers, donors, and coworkers.
- Complete additional assignments as designated by management.
- Comply with Goodwill Keystone Area's manuals, policies, and procedures.
- Assist with organizational tasks and projects beyond standard responsibilities.
- Promote and maintain workplace safety, ensuring safe task execution and adherence to safety protocols.
- Communicate any challenges, progress, or concerns to the Production Supervisor CP.
Qualifications
- No formal education requirements.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old to accommodate flexible shift scheduling and comply with labor laws.
- Basic literacy and arithmetic skills required.
- Expected to meet qualitative and quantitative performance benchmarks.
- Capable of working in an open warehouse exposed to various weather conditions including heat, humidity, and cold.
- Willingness to learn equipment and technology pertinent to the role.
- Able to follow verbal instructions and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Highly adaptable with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Standing continuously for over 75% of the shift.
- Frequent bending forward or sideways up to 60 degrees to handle items approximately 50% of the time.
- Neck bent forward about 30 degrees while standing for the majority of the shift.
- Lifting weights up to 50 pounds from ground to waist level about 25% of the time.
- Repeated lifting of 25 pounds throughout most of the shift.
- Ability to push and pull carts requiring 25 pounds of force over distances of approximately 100 feet for 25% of the shift.
- Repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements every few seconds for most of the working period.
