About the internship
About the Internship
This internship opportunity involves comprehensive involvement in the design, analysis, and development stages of mechanical products, with an emphasis on autonomous battery-swapping technology for electric four-wheelers. The position is based in Bangalore with a commitment to full-time, on-site work for 6 months, starting immediately.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design of mechanical parts and systems, ensuring they meet performance, durability, and cost targets.
- Develop precise 3D models and technical drawings utilizing CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Incorporate principles of design for machining, manufacturing, and analysis to produce practical and robust designs.
- Engage collaboratively with the team to enhance and refine designs based on feedback and testing outcomes.
- Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) and structural simulations including stress, deformation, thermal, vibration, and modal analyses using CAE tools like Altair HyperMesh/OptiStruct.
- Set up simulations by preparing CAD geometries, mesh generation, and assigning materials, loads, boundary conditions accurately.
- Interpret simulation data to pinpoint stress concentrations, excessive deformation, potential failures, and recommend improvements.
- Compare simulation outcomes with physical prototype tests to validate simulations and enhance their reliability.
- Support prototype development ensuring compliance with functional and aesthetic requirements.
- Perform mechanical verification (stress, thermal, vibration analyses) and integrate mechanical systems with electrical/embedded components.
- Create detailed 2D manufacturing drawings including orthographic views and sectional details with proper GD&T annotations.
- Optimize and modify 3D CAD models to eliminate interferences and facilitate assembly processes.
- Maintain the Bill of Materials to track every component used in the assembly process.
- Conduct trial fitment on physical prototypes to verify clearance, hole alignment, and installation feasibility.
- Identify any interference or clashes between assembled parts that may cause issues.
- Choose appropriate fasteners and tools suitable for mounting and assembly tasks.
- Use precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to ensure the physical build aligns with the CAD models.
- Coordinate effectively with vendors and fabrication shops to clarify manufacturing specifications and resolve queries.
Candidate Eligibility
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines.
- Available to commit full-time in-office work for a 6-month internship starting between September 3rd, 2026, and October 8th, 2026.
- Demonstrates relevant skills and interest in mechanical design and simulation.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 3D modeling, assemblies, and technical drawings.
- Understanding of CNC machining and design-for-machining concepts.
- Basic knowledge of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes such as bending and cutting.
- Familiarity with polymer-based 3D prototyping technologies like FDM and SLA.
- Working knowledge of GD&T to ensure clear manufacturing communication.
- Experience or exposure to finite element analysis tools such as ANSYS or Altair HyperMesh/OptiStruct.
- Strong attention to detail, disciplined documentation, and enthusiasm for hands-on prototyping efforts.
Compensation & Perks
The internship stipend ranges from INR 8,000 to INR 12,000 per month. Additionally, interns will receive a certificate and a letter of recommendation upon successful completion.
